Family capital,
in the long view.
A multi-generational family office providing flexible capital to emerging businesses, opportunistic investments, and complex transactions.
We're not private equity nor venture capital; we're family capital with the agility and skill to act decisively, the patience to build long-term value and the determination to effectuate change.
Generational Stewardship
We protect and grow what's been built, acting as stewards of both capital and legacy. We build for resilience because success is measured in years, not quarters.
Think Big, Move Fast
We dream big and act decisively when opportunity arises. Speed and patience can coexist.
Curiosity Creates Opportunity
We stay relentlessly curious, always seeking ideas, industries, perspectives, and structures others may overlook.
Family First
Our foundation is family — not just in ownership, but in how we treat partners, employees, and communities. Our capital carries our name and values.
A representative few.
Our investments span three areas of focus — trading, real estate, and direct investments. A selection of partnerships, past and present, is below.
Trading
As members of CBOE, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX, we partner with entrepreneurial traders to develop and scale trading strategies across asset classes, providing capital, infrastructure, and operational support to accelerate growth.
Real Estate
Our real estate activities span acquisition, development, ownership, and operations across single-family rentals, build-to-rent communities, multifamily housing, commercial properties, hospitality, and related real estate services.
Direct Investments
We invest in businesses operating in industries with strong fundamentals and long-term demand. Our portfolio spans sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, technology, and other areas where we believe our capital and experience can create lasting value. Depending on the opportunity, we may serve as active operators, strategic partners or long-term investors.
A house, and the habit of building.
In 1819, Charles C. Trowbridge arrived in Detroit at nineteen years old with little more than ambition and a belief in what the city could become. He helped establish Detroit's first bank, served as mayor, and played a role in shaping a frontier settlement into a growing American city. In 1826, he built a home for his wife on farmland just beyond the city walls. Two centuries later, the Trowbridge House still stands as the oldest remaining building in Detroit.
In 1981, Stanley B. Dickson, Jr. purchased the Trowbridge House and began writing its next chapter. In 1993, he expanded the property through the acquisition of the neighboring Bosquet Building. Over the past four decades, more than 100 businesses have operated from this address — spanning industries, investment cycles, and generations. Today, his sons, William and Daniel, work alongside him. What began as a family home remains one today.
At its core, this story is about entrepreneurship. Trowbridge saw opportunity in an undeveloped city and built for the future. Two hundred years later, the Dickson family continues that tradition from the same rooms. The industries have changed. The world has changed. But the instinct remains the same: identify opportunity, take thoughtful risks, and build businesses designed to endure.
